This Saturday, May 4, volunteer groups will be cleaning up trash along provincial highways during the annual highway cleanup.

Between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m,, volunteers in orange safety vests will be collecting trash along provincial highways.

Drivers are reminded to slow down, obey signs, watch for pedestrians, and use caution when passing cleanup crews.

"On May 4th, join us in keeping Alberta’s highways clean and safe for everyone. Together, we can make a difference in our communities. I want to thank all the volunteers for participating in this year’s annual highway cleanup."

Devin Dreeshen, Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors

Volunteers from 4-H clubs, Scouts, Girl Guides, schools, church organizations, Rotary clubs, sports teams, and other non-profit organizations will participate in the cleanup event.

In some regions of the province with wildfire activity, or in the event of poor weather, some areas may complete the cleanup on May 11, or delay until later in the month.
