Grande Prairie Fire Department responds to an explosion and fire.

Just before 11:00 on August 18th the Grande Prairie Fire Department responded to a report of an explosion near 100th Street and 128 Avenue. Upon arrival Firefighters found a 500lb. propane tank engulfed in flames. The fire had also spread to a nearby excavator. Firefighters extinguished the excavator and cooled other nearby propane tanks until the propane fire had burned itself out.

One patient was taken to hospital by Alberta Health Services with serious life threatening injuries. An incident investigation has begun and a full investigation will be completed by the Fire Department as well as Occupational Health and Safety.
