In 1999 Sara Acker and her brother Marcus started leading worship at their church in Texas. They were encouraged by their youth pastor to write some original songs, which lead to the band Inhabited. In 2003 they made an independent album called Innerview. They made a splash doing an interview for a small-town radio station. The DJ sent their album to Nashville where their single "Rescue Me" soon hit the Top 10 on Christian Rock radio.

They were then signed by Fervent Records and released The Revolution. Inhabited has since had a number of band member additions and changes, but Marcus and Sara say they have all been musicians who share their vision. Their follow-up album Love was released through 7Spin Music in 2008.

Their latest release is the acoustic album, Inhabited Unplugged.
