Jeff Johnson

Growing up Jeff Johnson was a big country music fan. He learned to sing by imitating his favorite country artists. His life took a turn in college at a Passion worship conference. He was watching the band Watermark. It was a moment that, not only lead to a commitment of faith, but also inspired a dream to sing Christian music and lead worship. After graduating with a degree in finance and computers, he took a corporate position in Dallas, Texas. He was leading worship at a local church at the time and eventually decided to quit his job and followed his dream of being a full-time worship leader. His indie career got a boost in 2005 when he appeared on American Idol.

That brief appearance did get him noticed. When he and the band released the single "Ruin Me" it began climbing the Christian music charts. Although he believes that modern media technology makes it possible for indie artists to succeed, distribution and marketing is difficult without a label. The Jeff Johnson Band's album Glorious Day was released in August 2007. It includes covers of some of Jeff's favorite artists as well as 5 original songs.
