COBBLESTONE HOUSE FIRE

On May 15th, just after 4pm the Grande Prairie 911 center received emergency calls for a report of a structure fire from neighbours in the Cobblestone area.

Grande Prairie Fire Department responded with 15 fire fighters on 1 Engine, 1 Squad, 2 ladder trucks and a command vehicle. Upon arrival one home was fully engulfed in flames and was threatening neighbouring homes. Fire crews were able to stop the progression of the fire despite being challenged by strong winds with the use of master streams and a water tower on the Ladder truck. There is extensive damage to one home and moderate damage to neighbouring homes. The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes.

No injuries were reported at the time of the fire. This fire is under investigation by the Grande Prairie Fire Department.

The Grande Prairie Fire Department is urging the public to make sure to have a working smoke detector on every level of your house between the living and sleeping areas, always practise an escape plan.
