The City of Grande Prairie is proud to announce the launch of their residential Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) on May 9, 2023. CEIP is an innovative financing tool that helps residential property owners pay for energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades. This program aims to support residents in reducing their energy consumption, lowering their carbon footprint, improving property values, and achieving the community's sustainability goals.

CEIP provides property owners with flexible, affordable, long-term financing through their municipality. Unlike traditional loans, the financing is tied to the property and not the property owner and repayment is facilitated by a tax added to the property's tax bill. This means that property owners can make energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades with financing that can be transferred to the new property owner if the property is sold.

To provide information about CEIP, the City of Grande Prairie will host two information sessions on May 4. The first session will be virtual and will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Residents who wish to participate in the online session can register at www.eventbrite.ca. The second session will be in-person and will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Montrose Cultural Centre in the Rotary Room. Residents who wish to participate in the in-session can register at https://www.eventbrite.ca.

During the information sessions, program experts will explain how CEIP works, its benefits and how to apply for financing. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance.

"We are thrilled to launch the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) and help our community reduce their energy consumption and lower their carbon footprint," said Engagement Advisor, Jessica Ross. "Through this program, residential property owners can make energy efficiency upgrades with low upfront costs and improve their property values while contributing to the community's sustainability goals. We invite everyone to attend the information sessions on May 4 to learn more about this innovative financing tool and how it can benefit them. CEIP for commercial properties is expected to launch in late 2023 or early 2024. "
