Canada Day is this Friday! This year, the City of Fort St. John has partnered with Treaty 8 Tribal Association to plan the annual Canada Day Celebrations.

The 2022 event will include a parade, an on-stage ceremony, local Indigenous dancing, music and storytelling, as well as inflatables, food vendors, a farmers' market, the classic car cruisers show, live music, fireworks and more! See the complete schedule for all the event details. [PDF - 777 KB]

Start the day off with a Grab and Go Breakfast with the Fort St. John Fire Department! This by-donation event begins at 8:30 am at the Fort St. John Fire Hall and will see all proceeds supporting the Fort St. John Fire Department’s Community Safety Initiatives to purchase smoke alarms for the community.

The parade begins at 11 am from the North Peace Arena, heading north on 98 Street turning right at 108 Avenue before heading south on 96 Street and back to the North Peace Arena. Multiple road closures will be in effect beginning at 9 am, check out the parade route map for additional details [PDF - 3 MB].  Note that no vehicle access will be permitted in these areas until approximately 1:30 pm. Additionally, 100 Street from 93 Avenue to 96 Avenue will be closed from 9 am until 4 pm for the Canada Day Car Show!

Detour signs will be in place with the RCMP, traffic control, and volunteers will be on-site to enforce closures and guide vehicles to an alternate route. There will be high volumes of vehicle congestion in the area around Centennial Park and we encourage people to arrive early, walk or ride their bike to the celebrations, and be prepared for long wait times. Note, accessible parking is available at the North Peace Leisure Pool with access from the west side of 96 Avenue.

Finally, end the day with the annual fireworks show will start at 10:45 pm. This year, the fireworks will be launched from land near Anne Roberts Young Elementary School. Spectator viewing will be available at the vacant land south of 112 Avenue and east of the Fort St. John Hospital or at Surerus Park.
