Fort St. John City Council has announced the acquisition of a 10,000-square-foot property formerly known as Wolverine Motors, to serve as a dedicated emergency services building.

City staff are working on a lease agreement with North Peace Search and Rescue for a portion of the facility, while the Fort St. John Fire Department will utilize the remaining space.

Mayor Lilia Hansen stated, "This acquisition not only provides an immediate solution to our pressing need for additional emergency services infrastructure but also demonstrates our dedication to optimizing resources for the benefit of our community."

The project, outlined in the 2024 Budget, was allocated a budget of $3 million for design and construction. However, acquiring the property has resulted in substantial cost savings, with the final purchase price negotiated at $1.87 million.
