A teenage girl who has been struggling with thoughts of suicide has recently found strength in Scripture and decided to share it with the rest of her school in Kentucky. 

"Over the year my love for my Lord has saved me more and more," said Sophy Jones on Facebook a few weeks ago. Jones attends Whitley County High.

During a recent TV interview with her local station WKYT-TV, she shared, "Our school, along with the middle school, has struggled with suicide. A lot of people struggle with their mental health."

Late in 2023 before school let out for Christmas break, Jones decided to create a 'prayer wall' in the girls bathroom. This meant posting sticky notes on the mirrors and walls. Some were empty in hopes that others wrote encouraging words or Bible verses and some contained verses already. 

"Each spot people can write a Bible quote, message, or a prayer. I hope to spread this across more schools and I hope people understand just how much Jesus loves us!"

Jones's close friend Evelyn Philpot helped with creating this wall of hope. 

"The other day, I had seen a young female student who had one of the yellow sticky notes with a Bible verse on it that we had wrote, and it just really like made my day to know that this is something that people are loving and it’s actually helping them," Philpot told WKYT-TV.

Both Jones and Philpot are members of First Priority, a student-led Christian organization with a chapter at Whitley County High School.
